How to record a video meeting and download it as MP4

Before you start

Three things make the difference between a recording you keep and one you delete:

1. Permission. Tell everyone you are recording, at the start, out loud.
2. Audio. A recording with only your own voice is worthless. The tool has to mix every participant's audio into the file.
3. Where the file lands. Cloud recordings behind expiring links are a problem later. A local MP4 is not.

Recording in Moyan SEE

1. Start or join the meeting as the host.
2. Wait until everyone who needs to be heard has joined.
3. Press Record in the toolbar. Hosts and co-hosts see it first.
4. Run the meeting as normal — share your screen, use the whiteboard, play a video file.
5. Press Stop or simply end the meeting.
6. The MP4 downloads to your computer automatically.

Getting a sharper recording

• Set the quality selector to 1080p or 2K before you press record. The recording follows the meeting quality.
• Good light on your face beats any camera setting.
• Use headphones. It removes the echo that makes recordings tiring to listen to.
• Pin the presenter so the recording follows the content instead of jumping between speakers.
• Close background downloads and heavy tabs; recording and encoding both use your machine.

Recording a screen share or a played video

Screen and window shares are captured at the size other participants see them, letterboxed so nothing is cropped. If you play a video file into the meeting, it becomes the main stage for everyone and its sound is mixed into both the live call and the recording.

What to do with the file

• Trim the first and last 30 seconds — the joining and the goodbyes.
• Rename it with the date and the topic so future you can find it.
• Upload to your own drive or knowledge base, where retention is under your control.
• For training libraries, add a one-paragraph summary next to the file.

Limits to know

Free meetings include one recording per meeting so you can see how it works. Paid plans record every meeting, with no processing queue and no storage tier — the file is yours the moment the meeting ends.
