How to join a video meeting without creating an account

Joining takes one step

Open the link, type a display name, press join. There is no account, no password, no download and no app store. It works in the browser you already have, on a laptop or a phone.

Creating polls, recording, admitting people from the waiting room, muting or removing participants, locking the room and promoting co-hosts. These stay with the host and co-hosts so meetings cannot be hijacked.

Before you join

1. Test your camera and microphone. The join screen shows your preview.
2. Use headphones. It removes echo for everyone, not just you.
3. Close heavy tabs. Video is the first thing to suffer when your laptop is busy.
4. Use a wired or strong Wi-Fi connection if you plan to present.
5. On a phone, hold it steady or prop it up; motion costs more bandwidth than you think.

Tips for hosts

• Send the link, not instructions. A one-click link beats a paragraph every time.
• Add the meeting to calendars with the built-in invite so the link is in the event.
• Leave the waiting room off for casual calls and on for interviews.
• Mention recording out loud before you press the button.
• For clients who always struggle with software, send an audio-call link — microphone only, and they can turn the camera on themselves.

If something goes wrong

Camera blocked? Check the padlock icon in the address bar and allow camera and microphone for the site, then refresh. No sound? Check the system output device, not just the app. Frozen video? Drop the quality selector to 720p; the call will stay smooth.
